GfK Consumer Electronics Conference 2008

The attention lately being given by the consumer electronics market to subjects like environmental protection, energy efficiency and sustainability is more than mere lip service. These issues were addressed by GfK Retail and Technology, who measure sales of technical consumer goods worldwide, at the GfK Consumer Electronics Conference held in Munich on June 10th, 2008 and who gave the 140 delegates an overview of the latest developments on green CE from various perspectives.

The Consumer Electronics market is subject to a process of conti-nuous and dramatic technological change. In a few short years, the television market has been transformed by the move from traditional cathode tubes to flat screen TVs, a development bringing in its wake more sales of increasingly large sets with significantly improved picture quality and better contrast. So, how can this move towards "increasingly larger" and "increasingly better" sets be reconciled with the idea of energy efficiency?...
